Continuing my love affair with this Vive9 skin is ever so easy to do when paired with Lamb's butterfinger hued tresses. Nerdy-chic glasses by Tres Blah which had to be modded quite a bit because I'm pretty sure my head is oddly shaped. This tank top from Berries Inc. is either a short, slutty little dress or a modest tank top depending on how you wear it - natch, I've gone for the former by wearing a pair of fishnets from Nayar underneath. What I also love about the Berries Inc. top is its luscious, plunging back that I didn't feature in this photo. Business in the front, party in the back. Kind of like a reverse mullet. Basic staple hoodie by Atomic. Completely impractical, but stylish boots by Coco.

Grease Monkey

When I found these incredibly detailed coveralls by 19 Motorcycles courtesy of Digital Butch, I just knew I had to put my own spin on the "sexy grease monkey" look. They come in both this style (wrapped around the waist) and up, worn like normal coveralls for both men and women. The prim work is just unbelievably great. The skin I'm wearing is lovely newness from vive9. Their skins have never, ever, ever looked good on my shape, much to my lament. I've never even been able to mod my shape to get their skins to look right for me. But for some reason, this skin works, and I am thrilled. "Who you callin' scruffy lookin'?" More Fashionably Dead love with this skin. I picked it up during the Black Friday sales, and the makeup totally reminds me of some swarthy French singer from the 40's. Hair by Truth. Glasses by The Wrigglesworths which I always admire because of their primmyness instead of simple, flat alpha-texturiness which ends up clipping through my usually shaggy hair and making me frustrated. Super fluffy sweater by Crazy. It's one of those stores I rarely see blogged, but their stuff is so diverse and easy on the linden balance. Skirt by So Many Styles. I'm linking to Irie Campese's blog instead of her store for two reasons: you can get her SLURL from her blog, and you need to check out said blog. I always enjoy browsing through her pictures. They're so vibrantly colored, and her style is impeccable. Socks are layered, the brown ones coming from League and the crimson ones are from Pig. Bootsies from Taboo. Nothing cures a hangover better than a Waffle House breakfast. Seriously. Their coffee and waffles are divine. The waitresses and grill staff always crack me the fuck up, too; they're the same everywhere you go. And they all like to pinch my cheeks. I guess it's because I look younger than my twenty seven years. Twenty seven... shit. It's my birthday, and I've got a case of the "I'm getting ollldddd" blues.

Told you I loved these Armidi pants, right? I'm such a toolbag for yet again wearing the same shit in a different post, but they went perfectly with my new jacket from Pink Outfitters. The gold sequined tank top is from there, too. Sequins have to be one of the hardest textures to get right in SL, but this shirt is divine. After the creation of her highwaisted pants/sequined top style jumper, I was really hoping London Dailey would feature sequins elsewhere - and she didn't disappoint. Loafer style mules from Coco which look so chic, but so comfy. Shades from Paper Couture - they look like Elvis and Quentin Tarantino's lovechild's sunglasses. Skin by Fashionably Dead because I'm reasonably certain my fetish for FD anything has been made well-known by now. Tattoos by Rojo. Piercings by Haus of Darcy (and nope, not taking them off yet). This hair by Lamb was a Fifty Linden Fridays coif, I think, but I simply tinted its usual honey color into a sweet ginger tone. And last, but not least, this super fantastic pose from Flowey which I got at 111, and which was not overpriced at all. My linden balance is grateful.

Many stores are shifting to a winter theme, and the Tableau sim is no exception. I have always admired Toast Bard's store builds for their uniqueness and detailed textures (as well as bad ass art). Thus, here I am at the Fashionably Dead storefront rocking a pair of FD's high-waist corduroy pants with belt. (Check out Fashionably Dead on SL's marketplace.) This sheer cardigan is from Pig (purchased on sale), and the matching tube-top is part of a set from Emery. I had a pair of these exact boots when I was younger, and I absolutely hated them; but for some reason, these ones made by Reek make me smile more than they make me frown. I suppose it's the reminiscent factor. This necklace is a freebie from two jewelry fairs ago, and it was made by Izumiya. Piercings by Haus of Darcy. Tattoos by Garden of Ku. Expressive, lovely skin by Kao. Hair by Ploom, whose coifs are always unique and lovely.

I know I'm reusing the same damn jacket I wore in the last post. There will be newness soon. It's just that... I know I can get pretty matchy-matchy with my looks, and in my mind's eye I can't even conceive of forest green and hot pink together... But for some reason, I feel that this insane hair simply works. It's from Amacci and was part of a promotional deal to introduce unusual colors into their repertoire. It was a great move, in my opinion; I was never into their hair before, but being able to test it out by wearing these fantastic, vibrant colors really changed my mind. The jacket and t-shirt combo is from DPYumYum and is a favorite of mine because of the clean lines and well-fitting prims on the jacket. These Armidi pants are some of my favorite pants in SL. The texture and shadowing just can't be beat. This particular pair of pants is a wonderful closet staple. Boots from Fifty Linden Fridays courtesy of Sand Shack Surf Co. - it seems like it was just yesterday when I was donating lindens to help poor Emma Gilmour fix her laptop after an unfortunate spilled milkshake incident. Skin by &Bean. It's an old skin, and Keiko Morigi has come out with beautiful lines since this skin. However, this skin remains my favorite skin of all time. It has so much character and choix des vivre. I really, really wish she would play around a bit more with this specific template, perhaps make little improvements or somesuch because I just adore it. Really. Okay, I'll stop babbling. Tattoos by Garden of Ku. Piercings by Haus of Darcy (which are also fantastic - the shadow prims do wonders).

Maybe my androgynous nature attracts me to others of like kind, but there's no doubt in my mind that I've got a big ol' music-induced crush on the lead singer, Elly Jackson, of La Roux. She's got an effortless, hip style all of her own, and need I say anything about her fantastic hair? In a music video for one of their songs, "I'm Not Your Toy", she wears these sort of very breezy suits to coincide with the calypso-vibe of the tune. I decided to go a bit more city-romp, "let's take a walk to the beach" instead of a literal interpretation of her style. Maybe a new phase of style.

I love this hair from Boon combined with a hairbase from Amacci. A gorgeous, scrumptious pale skin (and fingernail polish) from Tres Blah. Ears by Ears Gauged. Here's where we diverge: see the tattoo? It's a fucking fantastic freebie (alliteration ftw, amirite?) from The Habitat, and it references another favorite "L" singer of mine, Lady Gaga. I'm not one to grab freebies and run; I'll be posting more tattoos from that spankin' little store later. Blazer by DP YumYum (whose store name never fails to crack me up). Shirt by Emery. Cameo necklace (a trademark jewelry piece that Elly Jackson is rarely without) by Boing Fromage. Belt by Cherry/House of London. These pants... oh, these pants that I never want to take off again (except for the right price) were tenderly crafted by Young Urban. And last, but not least: loafers. Elly Jackson always wears loafers, and she is vehemently against wearing heels of any kind. I admire that in a world that overly sexualizes women (and men). Plus, she's effing rich and still wears the same pair of manky old Gucci loafers she bought years ago. How cute is that? My loafers are made by HoC Industries. (Guu Nishi, creator, totally shares my sentiment about bloggers in her profile, too. Some peoples' kids, you know?) Poses by Reel Expression.

A little bit country, a little bit punk. I'm against the rabid Truth fangirlishness that goes on after every single release (there are more shops - wonderful shops, fantastic shops), but I also acknowledge that Truth Hawks makes some damn fine wigs. (I also remember way back before he made hair and simply made clothes and tattoos that I fawned over. He hooked me up with some tank tops that were no longer available for sale. Sweet, sweet guy.) Besides the wicked blonde streak, this is how my hair looks in the physical world right now - so natch, I think it's special. This jacket by Aoharu was difficult to fit, but when I got it right? Glorious. I love the depth and realism in their products. Tube top in a cute zombie/cartoon style by Suicidal Undead. Belt by Hermony (and may I say, Hermony's accessories are always super easy to fit). Jeans by League, who also receives mad fangirl press every time they release a skin. Again - very worth it; their skins are lovely. But, damn. Hoorenbeek cowboy boots, and ha! It's all about relaxation today. Here's a new jumper from Toki Doki that feels country-chic, yet effortless. (I modified it to remove the poofy top/prim bust look - those things never look right on my minimal boobaged self.) A super old necklace from one of my favorite stores in SL, Fashionably Dead. This lacy vest was a gorgeous find in Kyoot's gatcha machine at Albero. Skin by Ugly Duck, t'was a freebie long ago. For some reason, their older skins work much better with my shape. Go figure. This post is a little late, but I hope that everyone was able to thank a veteran this past weekend. Trust me when I say that it means a lot.

In honor of my vocation and my punk aesthetic: the girl you don't want to bring home to mama. First of all, this gorgeous skin by Lelutka. They cater to modelesque looks, but I greatly enjoyed applying these bruises and cuts courtesy of Suicidal Unborn. A tremendous mohawk from MAD Designs which was part of their 10/10/10 celebration. Hairbase by Anaphora (it's cute with all of its stars shaved in). The pants are a combination of pants by Amaama, League legwarmers, and socks from Ronsem. This amazing, bad ass, color-changing, multi-facetted wonder of a shirt-plus-belt-plus-pistol is from BC322. Peekaboo bra action by Armidi (Intimizzio, which sounds classy, yeah?). Necklace by HoD. Bracelets by a shop called HS, I think - I bought these lovely Kat von D inspired bracelets ages ago. Bloody wrap by Civvies which isn't around anymore so I'm told. Mouth attachment (it's a dog tag! with an S on it for Selonna!) by Urbanity which is called something else now (again, another old item). Cobrahive made these piercings which I modded for my use. Nails by Tres Blah (I never take these off, it seems!). Garden of Ku tattoos. Stretchy awesome ears by Aitui. And the pose... well, that's just an AO snap, one of the sweet mocap poses offered by Vista Animations.

Let's Get Mod

I'm a secret fan of the blog It's a Mod Second Life. I enjoy reading fashion and Second Lifestyle news from such a unique perspective. The mod subculture is all about fashion and making a statement; I view it as the predecessor to our current hipster culture. And while I enjoy mod fashion, I rarely find pieces that truly speak to the movement, at least where women are concerned. Mod fashion for women primarily deals with silhouette and and minimalism, but with fine, exquisite details. When patterns are used, they're usually very geometric and make the eye dance. Rougher details derived from military culture are often featured.

For my look, I decided to go mod with more of a modern take (I think smoke just came out of my ears). Still, I think I ended up looking a bit Judy Funnie (of Doug fame), but presentable all the same. The beret is from Decollage. Hair by Elikatira. Short hair on women was very popular during the mod movement, often cut into blunt shapes, and always meticulously styled. I've chosen to use hair that's a little less perfect, but beautiful all the same. Sassy Kitty Designs makes some of the most adorable basics (some of them are downright sexy) and I've chosen to wear one of their black turtlenecks. I will probably wear it in later posts because it's got this great open back with tie details that I must show off. The corset is also from the same designer. The vest is from Whippet & Buck. Simple, classic lines. It works so well with the wool skirt from Kyoot. I love any shoe that comes out of Hoorenbeek, and these new riding boots are superb. I would wear them every day in RL if I could. Skin by Fashionably Dead with that gorgeous subtle orange lip, a darling contrast to the purple (in my humble opinion). Vo Pralou of blog Heroin Ghic recently rocked this CheerNo hair, and it was love at first sight. (Both for the hair and his blog... Check it out for yourself. Superb style.) While I was making the rounds at CheerNo, I also picked up this jacket (Hari Ka Jacket in Blue). I love not only how structured it is, but how lush the fabric texture appears as well. The blue is a perfect compliment to these Hoorenbeek boots I picked up at their last sale. Speaking of sales, my leggings are from Royal Blue and are named "What's up Spock" which is practically the coolest name ever. There are many other colors, and these were made available through the creativity machine known as Project Themeory. Speaking of, Gritty Kitty is an eclectic store full of high-quality goodies, but creator Noam Sprocket has neglected giving us anything new for far too long! Come back! My bracelet (a très cool audiowire) and my necklace are both from Kari. There's a sale going on, so be sure to run over and snatch up something snazzy. Naughty... is back?!

Naughty was the first store/sim that I was brought to by my very fashionable friend, Cheyenne Coleman, way-way-way back in the day. I have a soft spot for it as well as many fond memories of learning the ins-and-outs of fashion! (Including some very noobish photoshoots that I'll share some day...)

Anyway, I was reading the feeds when I stumbled across Miss Melanie Kidd's (Grid Expectations) blog post where she said she had found a new building on the Naughty Designs sim.

The building itself is a really cool build, both inside and outside. It looks like it will have a second floor one day. The clothes are what's really got me jazzed, however. Very hippie-chic! I quickly bought, well, y'know - a lot. The moccasins are dreamy. I didn't even see a proper display for the jeans, but I bought one color of all the styles anyways. Everything took forever to rez. But, it was so worth it. Naughty... is back. My question is, who is Hannah Bohannes (the designer on quite a few of the items) and what does she have in store for us?

We Dance in the Alley

I find myself gravitating to darker skins more and more (even if my blog does not necessarily reflect that). One thing I've noticed, however, is that skin designers seem to think of darker skins as an afterthought rather than as a prized product. This means that they either neglect to create darker skins in certain skin lines, or when they do they look gray, green, or any other mixture of colors (tinting in photoshop to take the easy way out). That's not to say I could do better - I'm lucky I can do what I can in creating my own portfolio of photos; but, when I do see a skin designer create beautiful, darker skins I have just a little bit more appreciation for them than I do for the usual pale/normal/tan skins we see across the grid. It comes as no surprise that this lovely skin is from Redgrave. It's an oldie, but goodie (Naomi) - and it's fierce as hell.

Halloween 2009 - The Narrator (Fight Club)

My Halloween costume both in SL and in RL - The Narrator from Fight Club. I am a fan of anything Chuck Palahniuk - it's only appropriate that I pay homage. I decided to take a more "fashionable" approach to the character while still holding true to the original.

Bracelet by KOSH (which I picked up super cheap at their last sale!). Necklaces by Fashionably Dead (the only wrong Toast Bard can do is not be more prolific - create more! I crave!). Skully hair flower by Sinistyle (it's years old, but gorgeous). Pants by Zaara (the texture is undeniably lush, the shadows perfection - these have to be my favorite pants ever). Last but not least, and the ONLY time I'll wear something from the Designers United event this month on this blog (seriously, can we play it out some more? It's becoming a bit much... there's such thing as fostering hype before an event, but it was pretty nauseating this time around) a cardigan by Milk Motion - its puffy, yet body conscious folds are innovative and scrumptious.

Inspired by another Kat - this time, Kat von D. I didn't want to do an exact look, but rather evoke the feel of the outfit she wore to the Spike Guys' Choice Awards. Shaggy black hair with pink streaks courtesy of Maitreya. Skin by Urbanity - I thought the lips really helped with her cheeky smile (plus, I got this skin for only 99L during their recent sale... shazaam). Tattoos by Rojo - they are by no means close to what hers are, but Kat is all about pin-up style and so are these babies. Shirt from Artilleri that has been tinted baby pink. Jeans by Sand Shack Surf Co. for their lovely gray shade, but also for the little spill (unseen here) because Kat's not always the cleanest girl. I couldn't find such a wicked cool belt buckle, so I went with an old tried-and-true belt from Kyoot Army. Necklace from Evica (it was a freebie from the jewelry fair). Bracelets patterned after Kat's very own by HS. Oh, and yes, gotta have those peekaboo green undies - they're from SySy and I tinted 'em.

One of my style influences has always been Katharine Hepburn. Not only was she talented, she was gorgeous and had an amazing sense for fashion. I love her androgynous looks that combined her ultra-femininity with tailored, classic menswear.

I decided to use Sprawl's new Negotiator shirt as a base for this look. Thick tweed capris from Prelude give a softer, feminine feel while using men's tailoring and fabric. A fitted vest from Thimbles adds even more femininity with its cut and stitching. The scarf from Sey, a new addition to their inventory (and mine) adds a splash of sophisticated color. Shoes by 50 Flats with another structured accent - the buckle. This lovely hair is from Lamb with attached hat. Ciggie by Hermony. Tattoos by Truth. Glasses by The Wrigglesworths (who has neglected to create anything in some time now - c'mon!). The skin is from &Bean - it's an in-store gift. See if you can find it! One design house that I rarely see featured is Deviant Kitties. Their wigs are some of the most creative on the grid! (And it should be said, their style variety is insane - you could spend a day in there trying on all the demos.) The one I'm wearing - Callie - has a great color/texture changing head band with tons of options. The chocolate pack of hair that I purchased comes with many different colors of tips to add some funk, but I chose to wear the one with "ink" tips - it shows lots of depth.

Urbanity is having a sale until tomorrow! Everything is 99L (except fatpacks, of course). Such a steal. Trixi's clothes are very funky, very well-textured, and she has something to suit everyone. I decided to wear Urbanity's Wrapped Dottie top in beige underneath one of Niniko's newest creations. It reminds me of a comfy, worn-in button up work shirt the likes of which a boyfriend might throw on the floor after a hard day of work. As you can tell, I'm totally digging subtle patterns - the head scarf is patterned, the wrapped top has polka dots, and the work shirt has vertical stripes. It's not always taboo to mix patterns; just do it subtly!

In reading over the last couple weeks blogs that I missed out on, there were many that were quite opinionated about Lelutka's latest (and highly anticipated) release: Eclat. Skeptics of Lelutka's skins (even back as far as Minnu Model Skins before the change) usually held the chief complaint of the eyebrows looking overplucked. With this new release, however, the brows are lush and full - quite the trend for the past couple seasons. Yet those who complained before are now complaining that they are too full...

... But, I'm here to tell you they're wrong (in my humble opinion, of course). Today, I tried the skin and the eyebrows offered with it. I have to say, the brow shape that comes with the skin is not very flattering. I can see why some would be instantly turned off by the very flat brow that features a very thick middle - I mean, it made my girl look a stone's throw away from having a unibrow. But, after a few minutes of creating my own bald base and tweaking the brows to my liking, I fell in love with the skin. As you can see, the brows are full but not bushy nor overdone. The shading is lovely. And those lips? Divine.

Another complaint offered by skeptics of the skin: the bridge of the nose is too thin. I don't see that at all. My nose is set at rather healthy measurements and the skin reacts quite well to it. For those who think it may be too thin, I ask you to check your sliders. Because a lot of SL users have a difficult time creating a visually appealing nose, I think skin creators are used to overcompensating or undercompensating on various aspects of shading. I've seen even veteran SL users with flat or Michael Jackson-ish noses (may the King rest in peace).

I will be away for the next couple weeks while I'm attending weapons training (gotta love firing the big guns!), so I thought it would be fitting to share some Army style in lieu of my Army-caused absence!

The soft pink tones of another new purchase at the skin fair (Milk Motion) inspired me to utilize a quirky, feminine style. This dress by TART is new, and I know I'm going to get a lot of wear out of it. I'm a sucker for gingham and plaid, and this dress comes in several delicious colors. Cardigan by Nylon Outfitters. Quirky pigtails by Zero Style. Leggings by Miu. I tinted them to be darker, matching them to my socks by Oyakin. I purchased these orange ballet flats (also tinted to be darker) during Paper Doll's sale, so they were super cheap. Hair flower by Artilleri - another oldie but goodie from my years old inventory.

Another skin that I was drawn to at the skin fair was this gorgeous creation from SkinTight (yes, again! they're gorgeous) called Blood Thirsty. It has some of the most detailed shadowing I've ever seen, perfect lips, and a beautiful metallic skintone. It inspired me to do a funky psychobilly look - and who else's creations could I use but the fabulous vintage finds at Artilleri? The top is from Artilleri's Kitty dress. The pants are from the Nina highwaist collection. The bracelet is an oldie but a goodie called Racer. You don't see it, but on my other wrist I've got the 8Ball wristwatch on. (Can you tell? I've been wearing Artilleri for years now!)

The crowds at the Skin Fair have been rough, but I managed to come out only slightly scathed with some beautiful new skins. My favorite of the bunch so far? This distressed beauty by Skin Tight called Afterglow (in Hazelnut). Wisps of black hair cling to the forehead. The makeup is smudged, severe, the fully pouty lips showing signs of some dark mischief. The body features heavy shadows. For only 425L, it was a steal.

The shirt is from Connors and was originally intended for a man. With a bit of quick alteration, it became very suited to the womanly form. Shorts by Argrace. New pearl necklace by Urbanity. I did some editing to make it look as if the strand is broken. Pig socks. Rawdolls boots (color changey scripty lovey). Ayumi cleavage. Bandaids by Reek. Maitreya wig.

As a side note, I know it's been beaten to death but I still see it - if you're at a major event (skin fair, ahem) where it's ridiculously hard to get into the sim much less actually navigate it, please remove your AOs, scripted items, and primmy prim hair. It's just rude not to - and honestly, who cares what the hell you look like at a place like that? Don the best of your inventory at a place where style is expected. Please be courteous.

For anyone who doesn't know me, I'm a member of the U.S. Army and I sometimes have to take little breaks because of attending training and the like. So, I apologize for the lack of updates!

I'm back with this simple monochrome look that I'm totally digging. The shirt is from LeeZu (a new creation) and is so floaty and effortless, it's faboosh. Basic jeans from fri.day. I wish that Hermony was more prolific as I love this belt that I'm wearing - I want more! New boots from Kookie. They're textured so well, it's almost as if I can feel my toes warming up in all that (hopefully faux) fur. Truth has come out with even more new wigs. I'm going to say something that is perhaps unpopular, but it seems like even though he comes out with many new styles every week, they're just a remix of the same few styles over and over. This style, however, is different, quirky, and very cute - as are the rest of the styles he released this week. So, kudos. This wig is really cute. Shades by Epoque. I've never before blogged review copies (I tend to just buy everything I wear), but when watcher Castaignede of Avebury asked me to review her items - I thought, why not? It's an honor that she thought of me!

I'm glad she contacted me, too, because prior to today I had never heard of her store. After checking out her store (which is a quaint, yet cool modern build), I came up with this outfit that makes me feel super cozy. First, the vest - it is so primo. It's texture change scripted (which I'm a big fan of) and it fits perfectly. I have a sort of odd SL shape in that I'm a little more curvaceous (though not in the bust), and things tend to take a lot of tweaking. The scripted size changer worked quite well - it only took a few clicks and a little position readjustment. The sweater is a combination of lovely shades of purple. It normally comes with a sculpted bottom that would make it easily turn into a cute little sweater dress, but I decided to forego the prim in favor of a more athletic snow-bunny look. The jeans are excellent - I love the consistent rips and the dark wash (which is a trend this season). They come with prims for the bottom, but what's better than tucking your jeans into a big, fluffy pair of boots (by Truth) to keep warm, hmm?

Church of Luxe is having a sale today which is supremely excellent because I crave plaid. This dress is courtesy of that sale. I modded it a bit so that the skirt sits lower to better show off this wicked corset on the jacket layer by Plus. The wig is newness from Clawtooth by Clawtooth. Skin by &Bean again (and again and again). Bracelet is a little lovely from a past 50L sale day and was created by Hoot. Necklace, again, by Kunstkammer. Its tones match the dress perfectly. Leggings by fri.day (a nice basic). Chunky pumps by HoC. Glasses by Artilleri - I've had them in my inventory for forever and they never get old.

It can be said without a doubt that Hucci is a store on the rise. Everything is extremely well done. The textures are gorgeous. The shadowing is perfect. The very name of the store is fantastically witty. And, above all, the designs are thoughtful and a different take on the more revealing clothes we see hugging pixel curves. Don't worry - if baring flesh isn't your style or idea of fun, there is quite literally something for every woman - and Hucci is just getting started.

I thought it would be fun to go against my normal conservatism and dress to Hucci's mantra of looking, well, Hucci, but I fell back to the tried-and-true casual style that I enjoy. Both the tank top and the jeans are from this new store. I have to say, I usually have to fight with modding leg prims to fit over chunky shoes like these ones from UBU, but these prims seemed the perfect match. The tank top has a really soft heather effect and comes in many salivation-worthy colors. Basics with a twist.

The jeans come in different colors and washes, but I chose dirty - of course. They make my ass look fab, don't you think? "Apple bottom" for sure. Cardigan from Sprawl, wig from Fascino (which happens to be a man's wig, but I love the androgyny of it), and 50's throwback glasses from Gritty Kitty. Skin by &Bean. Amazing necklace by Zaara - I just cannot get enough of this jewelry, and although most of it is ethnically inclined, it is easily wearable with anything. Bracelet by Kari - it's an audio wire. Y'know, 'cause it's tres hip.

It's the weekend. I couldn't be any more happy. Still, the darkness is beautiful...

I enjoy the mixing of hard and soft, of destroyed but delicate. This skin by Fishy Strawberry is the work of a talented artist. I purchased it at the last skin faire. For more of a detailed look at the face, you can check the archive of my blog for a mini-review. My wig is from Alpha - it's one of my favorite mohawks. Alpha creates unusual cyber-punk styled hair that is super-high quality. The top of my dress comes from Doc Eldritch, or DE Designs. Moving south, we have the Mia Corset from LeeZu. While LeeZu's designs can be pricy sometimes, the quality and unusual styles that she produces more than make up for that fact as evidenced here. The skirt is from PixelDolls (who is having a sale at the moment, though the store is always very well priced) and originates from the bottom of the Marie Crochet set. Leggings are Atomic. Abyss boots on my toes. Armbands by Sn@tch - little treasures I found in their last hunt (all those little douche bottles were so cute). And, the bling - it's from Ticky Tacky and was also a hunt item.

Fashionably Dead has released new skins. And so, the angels sing in their heavenly choir.

Lovely new skin by Fashionably Dead. My chosen skintone is Bird Skin, and this is Rosie Raccoon. Soft and lovely with lots of character. The other skins I sold my soul for, er, purchased are Dirt Kiss, Moldy Peach, and the fantastic Red Dust that has the most gorgeous crimson lips.

Nylon Outfitters also released some loveliness. This shirt/cardigan combo are righteous. I'm heavily tattooed in my first life, and the print on the shirt makes me coo. I dig the art. The skirt is from Oyakin, a place that Beanie blogged about and everyone and their mother is wearing now. But, you know, I can be a trend-whore sometimes, too. Leggings by Dernier Cri. Bangles by Zaara (the detail on them is incredible and mind-blowing and other wordy pontifications). Socks, more Beanie goodness, but they have suspenders and call for more IDC (idon'tcare) - they're from Picnic. Scrumptious. Artilleri wig. MW shoes, called "Creeps".

Cowboy Boots (Part 2)

I have a confession to make:

I am in love with Toast Bard.

Okay, she totally doesn't know it, and she has no idea I exist... but it's true. Let me have my fangirl moment. (Another one, I know, I know.) Fashionably Dead was one of the first stores I encountered as a budding little fashion whore and every time she releases something new, I squeal with delight.

To me, hand-drawn clothing, skins, etc. are beautiful to behold. The skins found at Fashionably Dead are expressive and unique, each of them with their own personality. I've got a lot of her older wigs, but her more recent ones have really rich textures and delicate styles (yep, even the one with the pot on the head). I'm wearing the Sunday Shoelace - Solo Dancer wig, brown eyes, Jean Jumper (from the Bubbles Fundraiser outfit), and brand spankin' new Polkadot Sweetheart shirt in Blood Orange. The attachments on the shirt are color scripted which is always good for a giggle because, y'know, it assuages the little kid in me. You can't just buy one shirt - you either buy light or dark, and you get a whole pack of 'em. She released Itchy Knee Skirts, too, which I'm sure I will flounce around in another blog post. Always well-priced.

Cowboy Boots (Part 1)

I've got a love affair for two things: plaid shirts and cowboy boots. I'm about as city slicker as they get, so I find these items to be a quirky novelty and wicked cute.

Pushbutton Industries was one of my favorite stores back in the day, and Sprawl, its renamed successor, carries its legacy in my heart. This plaid shirt is excellent. The fatpack was inexpensive for the quality you receive, and the shirt comes on all possible layers. My wig is from Clawtooth by Clawtooth. Bubbles recently had a Labor Day sale that I took great advantage of! Necklace (a 50L Friday piece) and glasses from Miel (incidentally, I had two little people tonight ask me who broke them since there's that tape that wraps around the nose - can one keep track of her brawls, really?). Vest from fri.day. fri.day, to me, is kind of like SL's version of The Gap. They have all your nice little basics with some kickier pieces scattered here and there. Admittedly, they're too "plain Jane" for me to make a whole outfit out of their clothing, but to mix in to your outfits? Perfect. Jeans from League.

Those sexy boots? Hoorenbeek. When I was little, my mother told me I couldn't get any cowboy boots because they're too tight on your feet and can cause sores. This is what she said to me. To this day, I still don't have any cowboy boots. Maybe it's about damn time.

So, I went to Artilleri and picked up this... ultra girly... Kitty dress in red. This simply wasn't going to happen, though. I'm not in a girly mood, so why should I let her ruin my fun? I pulled on my Tonktastik boots, socks from Pig, jacket and ciggie from Hermony, and glasses from Gritty Kitty.

I even did my hair. See? Cute little red streaks in there and everything. It's from Oh Hair! and I think it's one of my new favorite places.

For today, relaxation is the name of the game. Beanie Loves Japan! saved the day with a SLurl to the very wicked 109 Prims sim.

After spending time on the carousel and touring the joint, I decided that it was time to sit and unwind.

Truth recently released six more wigs. Can we find a more prolific hair artist? Seriously. This one is called Peaches in Carrot. The fingertape and flower complete with little skully are creations from Sinistyle. I hope the Sinistyle sim is complete by Halloween - Krius Misfit always does amazing holiday builds. My tunic is from NINIKO in beige. You've probably seen it on the feeds before, but y'know what? It's that good. Multiple layering options make me happy. These velour pants in Espresso are from Zaara, as are the bangles. And finally, the boots! 50L from Kookie. The little red bows make me smile with delight.

Other stuff: Tattoo from Paradox. Piercings from Hermony. Eyes from Hermony. Lashes from LeeZu. Necklace from Mocha. Skin from &Bean!!! Passersby at Cupcake have taken to clucking their tongues and giving me pitiful looks. Why must I be so tortured?

The best things in life have a nice patina to them. When I get older, I will cherish my wrinkles as little trophies that show the life I've lived. And likewise, I cherish the grunge, the grit, and the grime as a way of showing that this was a street well-walked, a dress well-used.

This strappy leather dress is from The Plastik. If you've never shopped there, then you've never seen the limitless options that a designer can offer us. I've never seen so many colors or patterns for clothing as I have at this store. Everything is exquisitely made. I gravitated toward this dress because of the amazing prim details. Fitting all of the prim attachments was wicked easy, too. I'm wearing one of Curio's Beach skins in Bean - Crude. Like my last post, this is one of those skins that is dark, but still retains excellent shading. All of Curio's skins give the wearer a rather cutesy, darling look which I think makes this tough dress in this rough environment all the more special. A little flower with armor.

I'm wearing an old pair of Viva La Glam's tights that I tinted to this color. The boots are my favorite, a pair from Tonktastik that feature texture and color change. Why can't all shoe creators do that for us? The eyepiece is from B-Cyberpunk. I purchased it a long time ago as well, and I'm not sure what the creator has been up to since... but this post is going to make me go check for sure!

Smecksy elf, no? I've always been a human in SL. It was only when I saw that The Plastik created a new line of elf inspired skins called Bael that I knew it was time to change it up. There are tons of delicious color options, but I decided that black would be best for my first foray into the elf world.

I've seen dark skins where the shading and tone can be a bit wonky, but that is definitely not the case for this skin. Its shading is perfect. Even though it's a really dark skin, you can see every little nuance clearly. There is definition here - the curve of the chest, the booty, the legs.

Look at those lips. So pouty, even with a hint of pucker as if she's begging for a kiss. And eyebrows - goodness me. I'm very fussy about brows on skins, and you can't find a more lovely arch than these babies. Oh, and the ears? They come with the skin! You get three variations. A note for this particular shade of skin: colorful tattoos end up looking a bit clownish. I wore these black ink tattoos, however, and they look stunning... even better than on my usual human skins.

The hair is from Lamb (Egomaniacal in Granny). I love how short and playful it is. The tattoos are from Addict and are called Shamanic Might. To offset the darkness and the otherwise grayscale look, I wore this bright cami from Urbanity called Neglige Top. It clings to your curves in all the right places. Trust me. To tie in a bit of the green, I wore these grungy boots from Tonktastic that have tons of customization options. The bubble skirt is from Sugarcube. The leggings are from Viva La Glam. The bracelets are from Zaara. They have just a hint of glow in them which, I confess, I love. Glow is the new bling. Screw it.

After attending a zombie prom and getting 'brainfaced', I decided to wind down in a cozy little cafe and nurse my hangover with a spot of tea.

The hair that I'm wearing in this post (and the post prior) is a lovely new incarnation from Clawtooth by Clawtooth called Pink Champagne. It's slightly reminiscent of another bob from that same store; but instead of the curls being highly pronounced, these curls are softer and more wispy. The hair also comes with a flower and face net that is optional and comes for purchase in different colors. I chose to tint the flower to match my dress. The glasses are by Miel ("Bella Peepers") and were a group gift. These soft, kissable lips are courtesy of Atomic (Hope - Porcelain - Natural).

I am enamored with This is a Fawn and Miss OMGWTF Barbecue. After finding out what a fangirl I am, she gifted me one of her newest creations - the Caulfield Dress in Aubergine. (I already had it in Emerald and Teal Plaid. Like I said, fangirl.) To give it a bit of a naughty kick, I slipped on a pair of Milk Motion leggings. After dancing the night away, my feet were way too sore - best to just slip on my good ol' comfortable boots from WMD (ROT test boots). The cute little flower was a steal from 50 Linden Fridays participant HooT, and the necklace is a Drowsy exclusive from their summer festival.

Skins: Beaten and Abused (NSFW)

I am terribly fond of skins that feature a beaten and abused appearance. Listed below are some of my favorites. I hope you'll enjoy them, too. Not safe for work due to gratuitous nudity. (How better to kick off a brand new blog than some nudies, hmm?)

&Bean - Sale at Armidi (The Anger, Light)

The entire line of &Bean's "The Anger" series of skins is enchantingly beautiful with soft, subtle lip colors and a rosy glow to give your cheeks a youthful look. She is not immune to the dangers of fighting, though! A few scratches on the right cheek and a nice, dark shiner illustrate her darker nature. And no, that's not lipstick -- I hope she was wearing a mouthguard with a smack to the lips like that.

Her body has remained otherwise unblemished. &Bean is due to launch their new line of skins very soon - I wonder if we can look forward to another battered beauty?

Tyranny Designs - Sweet Augustine - Told Twice (Tone 3)

Tyranny Designs is due to launch a new line of skins called Sweet Augustine. I find the name to be quite appropriate. Isn't her face darling? Even if it does have a few scratches and bruises, I think it shows that Tyranny Designs has a lot in store for us. This skin was part of a reduced price promotion as a teaser for the upcoming line and is finally available for sale.

She's got multiple bruises all over, including some wickedly bruised and skinned knees. She's got a bruise in another place not illustrated here - let's just say she got spanked?

Nikita Fride - Kill Me If You Can (Natural)

It was only after a friend suggested that I might find some damaged goods at Nikita Fride that I went and scoured the aisles of her store. What I found was row after row of lovely skins in all sorts of genres - regular, fantasy, and yes! - this lovely lady. This is by far the "meanest" skin I have ever seen.

This skin features bloody hands, various blood splatters, a vicious vertical scar that traverses her abdomen, as well as a carved pledge into her chest: "Kill me if you can."

Milk Motion - Savage Ninon - Scar

Milk Motion's "Ninon" set of skins is one of the most creative I have ever seen, but the subset of Savage skins are, in my opinion, her most interesting. While this skin isn't necessarily "beaten and abused", it does sport several wicked scars marring an otherwise beautiful face.

The body managed to come out otherwise unscathed, but would you look at all those freckles? Such great attention to detail.

MiaSnow - Zombie Hunter

MiaSnow is another creator that has an insane amount of unique skins. Zombie Hunter is, by far, one of my favorites of her collection. For an extremely reasonable price, you get not one but two skins sporting the same wounds, but different eye makeup. After all, blood matches everything, but eye shadow must be carefully coordinated.

Several punctures line the neck just above the collarbone while other bloody smears are found all over the body.

League - Wrecked (Misty, Pale)

This skin has been seen all across the feeds, and why? Because it's fantastic! It doesn't necessarily sport any blood or bruises other than some skinned knees and a wicked scratch, but the way that the makeup has run and is smeared is lovely in a gory kind of way.

League's line of Misty skins has a great bod. It's undeniable.

Fishy Strawberry - Daphne - Catfight (Latte)

This skin was unleashed at the Harajukubox Skin Fair a couple months ago, and it remains one of my favorite skins. Not only does it look like it has been in a catfight (as its title so appropriately says) - it comes with a shaved head, too. My kingdom for more hairbase skins and skins with shaved heads!

She's got scratches all over her body and some very bloody knees, but she's still fighting. I've never seen any other skins from Fishy Strawberry. Do we have more to look forward to?

Fashionably Dead - Salvation Army Song (Bird Skin)

I have been a fan of Toast Bard's skins for as long as I have been in SL. This skin proves what an artist she truly is. From the bandaid to the shiner to the smeared, bloody lips - it is simply perfection.

There is a pretty nasty cut on the right portion of the chest as well as a pressure bandage that wraps around the ribs. She was in one hell of a fight. The kitty is absent, but has that ever really mattered? Mr. Rogers used his imagination; you can, too.

And there you have it - the beaten and abused beauties of SL. But, Lonna - why are you showing all these skins where you've gotten your ass kicked?
